Artist Roland Poska (1938-2017) produced fifteen unique lithographic prints called Declarations of Interdependence between 1986-1992 in Rockford, Illinois. Each Declaration is a unique visual expression that evokes the interconnectedness between race, culture, and nature. Over the past 10 years, the Declarations of Interdependence have been presented for signings in over 70 cities in 13 countries on 5 continents - capturing thousands of signatures, sparking critical conversations and connecting people around the world.

Bring a Declaration to Your Community or Your Next Event

Declarations are used to connect broad and diverse individuals and organizations around the world. Stanford University used the Declarations to connect faculty, students, university staff, alumni, and parents. The city of Rockford, Illinois used the Declarations to connect it’s community’s schools, businesses, sports, housing, health, and government. American University used the Declarations to promote its International Peace and Conflict Resolution program.

The 2’ x 3’ Declarations of Interdependence use color and form to evoke the interconnectedness between race, culture, and nature. There are three corresponding Declarations for each race. Each Declarations is thematically titled such as “Roots”, “We The People”, and “American Indian Movement” are embedded in the piece.
